History of the Tuscaloosa Branch

The Tuscaloosa Branch of the ASCE was started in 1997 when local professionals assisted in establishing the branch.  It required a petition to the ASCE Board of Direction and multiple signatures. The Branch has a long history and continues to be an active professional organization within the Blackbelt Region.

The Tuscaloosa Branch seeks to accomplish its objectives through the energetic leadership of its officers under the guidance of the Alabama Section, American Society of Civil Engineers; meetings for the presentation and discussion of professional topics, local engineering or civic subjects, and general matters emanating from the Branch, Section, or Society; the encouragement of engineering students and engineers-in-training; the cooperation with other engineering societies and organizations for fellowship and common goals relating to engineering; and the enhancement of the professional status of its members.

The area of the Tuscaloosa Branch consists of the counties of Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Hale, Greene, and Pickens. The Tuscaloosa Branch is a member of the Alabama Section which started in 1956, and now has over 1500 members statewide.
